Frequently Asked Questions About Your Virtual Doctor Visit

How do I prepare for my virtual doctor visit?

Find a quiet space to test the audio and video on your device. Make sure you are able to connect to a strong Wi-Fi network, your device is fully charged, and if your concern involves a visible symptom, make sure your camera is accessible. Other than that, treat your virtual visit like you would an in-office visit. Make a list of symptoms, note any relevant changes since your last visit, and have your medication list with pharmacy information ready.

Can a virtual doctor prescribe medication?

For most medications, yes. This includes but is not limited to: antibiotics, birth control, and ongoing prescriptions for blood pressure, allergies, or mental health issues. Some prescriptions may require extra verification or an in-person visit.

Will insurance cover my virtual doctor visit?

Coverage depends on your plan, but most insurance companies cover virtual appointments, and match co-pays and deductibles to an in-person visit. It is always best to check with your provider before your appointment. If for any reason your insurance does not cover virtual visits, or you don’t have insurance, we offer affordable self-pay options.

Is a virtual visit as effective as an in-office visit?

Studies show that virtual doctor visits are comparable to in-person care, and in some cases, more effective. Telehealth has shown to improve medication adherence, and 70% of patients rated continuity of care as better or much better. In addition, virtual visits can help patients feel more comfortable and avoid childcare or transportation conflicts, resulting in less stress and fewer missed days at work or school due to in-person appointments.
