Stanford-trained, double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in eating disorders, complex mood / anxiety issues, ADHD, and trauma for all ages. Focuses on least-medication strategy for lasting wellness.

Don't you believe you deserve medical care from top experts in the field? I certainly do. However, I also believe that thoughtful, evidence-based care must be kind, tailored, and built on a collaborative relationship.

I'm a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult, family, child, and adolescent care. My goal is clear: to provide treatment that genuinely improves your quality of life while using the least amount of medication necessary to achieve lasting wellness. I offer comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services across the full spectrum of populations and conditions, but my value is found in the much more I bring to the table.

My background is exceptionally diverse, allowing me to expertly untangle complex diagnoses. I leverage my experience—from a pediatrics internship to a child psychiatry fellowship at Stanford University and tenure as a Medical Director—to see the complete clinical picture. My practice offers a rare specialization in conditions like eating disorders (residential care experience), trauma (PTSD), ADHD, complex mood and anxiety disorders, and substance abuse. I integrate Psychodynamic Therapy and other modalities to help you understand the deeper patterns shaping your emotional challenges.

Beyond direct patientcare, I’ve served as a clinical leader across numerous settings, including as an Associate Professor at Tulane. This experience ensures my approach is both direct and empathic, highly adaptable, and grounded in academic rigor, but always focused on your real-world success.

You shouldn't have to settle for reductive, assembly-line treatment. If you are looking for a physician with world-class clinical expertise—someone who truly has "seen it all"—and who is dedicated to a thoughtful, medication-conscious approach for complex cases, I'm here to help. I look forward to partnering with you to build a lasting foundation for your mental health and well-being.

What Clients Are Saying

OK... first of all.. she has hello kitty and Bobs burgers merch on her shelves. (THE COOLEST BADDIE SHES FOR THE GIRLIES) She's genuinely so sweet, professional, and funny. She went through each one of my answers and checked in with me to make sure she understands me. She told me about each of my meds and their side effects in real time (no other psych doc has done that before) and did not try to push any other meds on me. A genuine good one guys, deadass. ?

Dr. Henschke has been a true gem of a doctor to my whole family. She is kind, patient, beyond knowledgeable and reliable. I know she will always come through with the support and medical needs we may have. She does this efficiently and in a timely manner. Most of all she makes you feel cared for and that you matter. I truly cannot say enough good things and I believe she treats the whole patient, not just the symptom. That is because she cares about YOU!

Dr. Henschke is a fantastic psychiatrist. She listens - really listens. I've taken both of my children to her as well. What I appreciate about Dr. Henschke is her genuine interest in her patients' mental well-being and lives. Sometimes, visiting a psychiatrist for medication can feel a little like an oil change. Symptoms - check. Med change - check. (Not all their fault, I know.) Not with Dr. Henschke. She wants to know how a patient's counseling is going. She will confer with other members of her patients' care teams. She notices subtleties in behavioral, emotional, and sleep changes and delves into them. Although I went to her myself for anxiety and depression, she got to know me well enough that she picked up on my lifelong inattentive type ADD that I, a teacher with an ESE background, never noticed. That revelation explained so much of my life. Dr. Henschke is excellent with teenagers and sensitive to the needs of patients with autism and their families. Highly, highly recommended!

About Me

Jacqueline Henschke, MD

My approach to psychiatry is rooted in the belief that true healing requires seeing the full picture—the social, medical, and family factors that shape your mental health. As a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult, child, and family care, my goal is to provide treatment that genuinely improves your quality of life while using the least amount of medication necessary. My journey—from my academic foundation at Georgetown and Tulane to my clinical leadership roles—has instilled a deep commitment to treating the whole person.

My Specialties: Comprehensive Care & Complex Diagnosis

My practice is dedicated to providing high-quality psychiatric care for people of all ages. My extensive training and clinical experience covers a wide spectrum of complex conditions:

  • Eating Disorders (Residential treatment facility experience)
  • Trauma(PTSD) and Complex Anxiety Issues (including Panic Disorder)
  • Complex Mood Disorders (including Bipolar Disorder and treatment-resistant Depression)
  • ADHD and Executive Functioning Challenges
  • LGBTQIA+ and Transgender issues
  • Maternal Mental Health and Women's Issues
  • Grief, Loss, and OCD

Along with comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services, I tend to prioritize psychotherapy and lifestyle strategies before medication.

Therapeutic Approach: Academic Rigor Meets Empathy

My clinical style is direct, empathic, and highly adaptable. My work is anchored in a strong therapeutic foundation, ensuring every treatment plan is grounded in science yet personalized to your needs.

My core therapeutic approach includes:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: Helping you understand the deeper patterns shaping your emotions and relationships.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Providing a sensitive, safe environment.
  • Collaborative Partnership: I prioritize your input, ensuring our work is focused on your real-world success.

A Comprehensive Clinical and Leadership Foundation

My expertise is built on diverse, high-level training and leadership across the entire spectrum of care, giving me a uniquely broad perspective:

  • World-Class Training: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Stanford University and Adult Psychiatry Residency at George Washington University.
  • Unique Medical Perspective: A Pediatrics Internship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, giving me a rare insight into the intersection of physical health and childhood development.
  • Geographic& Setting Diversity: I have served as a clinical leader and psychiatrist in varied locations and challenging environments—from university clinics (Tulane)and private practice to high-acuity settings like emergency rooms, correctional facilities (DC Department of Corrections), substance abuse/detox centers, and inpatient psychiatric units in states including New York, California, Louisiana, Florida, and Colorado.
  • Academic Leadership: I served as an Associate Professor at Tulane University, where I taught and supervised medical students and residents, grounding my practice in rigorous academic standards.

Beyond the Clinic: Family, Nature, and Balance

Outside of my professional life, I am a native of Washington DC and a mother to two children, and I prioritize balance, connection, and joy.

I love spending time with my family, getting out into nature, traveling, and engaging in activities like crochet and yoga. These personal passions—rooted in patience, presence, and balance—inform the whole-person approach I bring to the clinic. I understand the complexities of juggling life's demands and am committed to helping you find your own grounded equilibrium.

At MindCraft, I've found a home that practices psychiatry with integrity, curiosity, and fierce respect for human dignity. I look forward to partnering with you on your path to healing.
